Re: your best sounding system ?

I'm really happy with the system currently in my truck, so much so that I finally decided to pull the trigger on going three way in my car as well. It gets better and better as I'm getting better at tuning.

    Arc PS8 DSP
Phoenix Gold Ti2 1600.5 for sub, mid bass, and mids
    Arc KS 125.2 for tweeters
    SI TM65 MKIII
    Audiofrog GB25
    Audiofrog GB10
    Audiofrog GB12D4

Re: your best sounding system ?

I think for me it's a toss up between two setups, but difficult to really compare since they were 15 years apart.

First one, and by far the best setup up until then, this was around 1999:

Pioneer DEX-P99R hu (euro version of the Premier DEX-P1R)
    Soundstream Davinci 7-channel amp
Boston Pro 6.43 3-way components, with midbass drivers swapped for Phoenix Gold QX 8" drivers
    Phoenix Gold Cyclone subwoofer

Competed a bit in IASCA, class was then called Novice 300w+ (IIRC).

Jump forwards almost 15 years, wanted to build a system to compete with... mostly as an exuse to travel and meet up with old friends. Chosen class was EMMA SQ Master OEM, meaning that interior must be kept 100% original, so all speakers behind factory grilles etc. This presented a challenge, but the car had decent stock locations. 4" on the dash and 6,5" in the lower doors. (mk3 Golf). So chose to use widebands on the dash, playing basically from 80hz and all the way up. Worked amazingly well in fact

    Setup:
    Pioneer DEX-P99RS
Sony XM2000R 2-channel amp (the 60lbs one from the 90s that took up almost the entire trunk), running a tiny set of 3" widebands only
Tangband W3-1878 3" widebands on dash, Focal Utopia 6w3 midbass in doors, 4x Focal 13ws 5" subwoofers in trunk. All Focal speakers were powered by a Focal FPS 4.160 4-channel amp

Allthough this setup had its limitations in the absolute top end, and also in output level, it did sound amazingly well. But hard to compare these setups since they were 15 years apart.

That's a nice looking chrome "speedbump" you got there
They might say "don't try this at home" but nothing about not trying it at your friend's house.

So far, my best sounding has been my Mazda. I spent a lot of money and did a lot of work to try to make my current Jeep the best, but it's just not there yet...

    Here's the Mazda:

DAP, DSP remote and bass knob built into the console cubby

    2019 Jeep Wrangler 2 Door - Morel Elate 3 way, Mmats HiFi 6150 & M2000.2, Hutchinson NDFEB 10", MiniDSP w/DL, Fiio X5

Re: your best sounding system ?

Until now my system in previus car Alfa Romeo 147:
Pioneer P9 combo, Brax amps for front end, JBL Crown BPX for subbass,, JBL C660 GTI (two pairs of midbass, one pair of tweeters), Hybrid Audio L4SE, 2 x JBL W15 GTI subs sealed....QED, Kimber, Esoteric audio, Dietz (and some iterations with source units (Alpine CDA 7939R, Clarion HX-D1, Helix DSP,, SS and McIntosh amps)

I belive the next one that Im starting to build will be even better, and of course added/swaped some new pieces of equipment...
