Re: Need a 15 inch sub for a custom, sealed, SQ-oriented box; 750 watts

    What Danny said verbatim.

And I'd do sub facing up and ports out the back if you port. That 15 on 750 watts in a ported box will still get stupid loud if you need it to in an orientation that will best reduce rattles. Output would be the last thing I worry about in your situation because I don't think you'll be lacking at all. And don't be afraid of using eq. I'm one of those guys that likes to use as little as possible for a more purist approach, but when JUDICIAL (lol) amounts are needed I'm not afraid to use it, and you shouldn't be eitherYou're going to have some bloated areas in the response because of the acoustics of the car that might need more eq to tame than you think. For the most part you're tuning for the "room", not the speakers themselves if they have a good pleasurable response out of the box.

On the sub, you can have one setting for a nice tame black tie tune, then another for when it's time to tear the roof off the sucker.
They might say "don't try this at home" but nothing about not trying it at your friend's house.

3/4" mdf or birch ply, table saw or circular saw with a good sharp blade (40 tooth Diablo blade preferred), straight edge and clamps for a makeshift fence to make straight cuts (adjust for offset between blade and foot on saw), jigsaw for cutting the speaker hole, drill, coarse thread screws, drill bit for pre-drilling, wood glue (tite bond II), box carpet...someone else will add what I forgot.
