If they cover midbass duty as nice as they look, and are a good upgrade from the SB17 drivers, I'm in for some fun.

One big slab of plastic. Guess I'll be breaking out the router and circle jig.

Scott that Starboard is great stuff. I've used it in the Civic and Accord. You're going to like it.

Will I need to do threaded inserts to hold screws for the mids?

I asked the company on eBay about using this for speaker mounts in car doors, and they steered me toward their HDPE. I would love to hear your (Salami and Babs and anyone else who has used this) impressions as you move forward with this material. Thanks for the great build log Babs, Im watching every move.

One set in each car. I just smacked the awl where I wanted the hole to start and threaded in the screws. They tightened up very nice. I have not removed and installed the screws a ton of times so I don't know how they would hold up to repeated removals but they held up fine in the three times the speakers were removed and reinstalled in both cars.

That's cool. I imagine as hard and consistent as this stuff is if you tapped it you could run in regular screws. I'll see it I can get my hands on our tap/die kit in our machine shop. May test a hole on the corner.
