    Re: LittlemissGTO's 2006 GTO

Finally some decent progress. I used a piece of wood for most of the front, because I needed it to be flat to clear the hinge, and I was worried I didn't have enough mat to do a full 'glass front. Much easier to keep uniformly flat that way.

Then I did a little work with the router and some filler and got a shape I like.

I tried to do some different elevations and lines to break it up. Especially since it's getting carpeted.

I also kept a slight curve around the ring for the woofer.

Now I think I need the car to blend the edges, and figure out where to put the terminal plug. I'll also need the woofer to figure out where to drill the mounting holes and put the T-nuts in.

The inside of the box will get some STP deadener as well.

    Look OK, Shauna?

    Re: LittlemissGTO's 2006 GTO

Since we're not meeting up til tomorrow, I had some time to kill. I decided to figure out how much air space the box was good for.
(I find when I say things like "I'm going to work on Shauna's box," or "I wonder what the average depth of Shauna's box is," I feel REALLY dirty, lol)

Some time ago I bought a big bag of styrofoam balls like they use in beanbag chairs. They're smaller than styro peanuts, so I figure they're more accurate.
Then I measured the overall dimensions of an empty cardboard box. (I used to have one that was 12x12x12, but it got crushed). It was 12.25" W, 13.75" L, and 12.25" D.

I filled the box up: (Stop it. lol)

Then emptied it into said cardboard box:

    and did the math:

Came out to almost exactly .975 cu ft. A lot more than I expected, but better too much than not enough.
For the Hydrogen 12 she's using, they call for between .52-.67ft3. They don't list a displacement value, but I'd guess .15ft3 or so. Maybe a little less.
That still puts us at .82ft3. expect a little more "real world" with polyfil.

I don't expect that to be a problem, and might even extend the low end some.
