It always amazes me how you, Dave, and other fabricators come up with such cool designs.

Mark- It would be very helpful if you show how to get the initial "false wall" piece's shape. Do you use a bearing wheel or other tool to get a near perfect shape of the contours for the trunk panel?
And in some trunks (including the one Im working on), you can't cut a single piece to fit the trunk wall and be able to get it in and out of the trunk. How do you then get around that? 3 pieces? (One main center piece and two small side panels?

TSK TSK! You must not have watched the last video!

    Check it out here:

If you cant fit it in one piece ALWAYS break it into 3. Have a middle piece and two sides. You will see this in the amp rack cover portion. Never put a partition down the center, your eye goes right to it.

    You would be correct- doh!

Great video there as usual Mark. I need to pick up one of those adjustable curves. I remember seeing them a while back and forgot about them.

I need to get a nice cover panel with a cutout for this amprack I've been working on in my wife's car:

    Here's the trunk.

My cardboard template mess was thrown out. I think I'll try your method since it should be much more accurate. The panel will be too wide for a single piece so I'll do the two sides and then a large center piece.

Yeah I get impression those adjustable curves and other template tools for flush-cutting clean lines are as absolutely paramount as good router bits for this kind of work. For anything and everything that isn't just a straight line or full circle.
