CAF Project Rebuild - Trunk Fabrication Beauty Panels!

As you guys know I have spent the last year working on #ProjectRebuild . I put a lot of time into this build, sound deadening everything, building the second battery rack, wiring, building the amp rack etc.... Now it's finally time for my favorite part of the project!

FABRICATION TIME

Well I guess I have been fabricating all a long, but this is where I get to make it pretty. Does that make more sense? LOL

As always I will have videos with step by step details for you guys, but I leaked some pics today, and wanted to give you guys some sneak peak action here.

When deciding on the design of your build you should choose some design cues from the vehicle. In this case I like the look of the shape for the soft insert oon the door panel. You will also notice there is a sweep from left to right under the door handle.



I replicated this within the build.








First I made all the shapes with 1/4", easier to work with and captures my geometry.

Then I transfer it to 1/2"

I was going to have the logo trim ring raise up, but later I decided to sink it in.

After some sanding she is taking shape!

I had to get another idea what it would look like in the trunk:



Next I molded some metal mesh...





That's it for now! I need to figure out what finishing materials I want to choose for vinyl, and if I should light everything up, also need to determine the shapes for the amp rack. I'm super happy to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
