    DSP-88R

    I am thinking of picking one up to go active. What is everyone opinion on it? Anyone use it?

    For the price you pay for it it's not a bad unit at all. That said, I would pay $275 plus shipping and get the minidsp 6x8 instead and get the deq8 plug-in for it to have a lot more flexibility. www.minidsp.com
    They might say "don't try this at home" but nothing about not trying it at your friend's house.

    I don't mean to hijack this thread, but can a DSP control power output to each channel as well as frequencies? For instance, if I have 10" subs, 8" mids, 6.5 mids, 2.5 mids, and 1" tweets, do I need to worry about RMS of each if I run 1 speaker per channel on 2 amps? Can the DSP simply turn down the output to the 2.5's and tweets, or will I not hear them at that point? Am I talking about "gain" and just don't know it? lol

    You still want to adjust the gains on the amp to match the speakers, but yes, the DSP gives you the option to adjust the signal gain on each channel from the DSP to the amp. This is especially helpful in getting all the drivers playing at the same level.
