Pet Urn build - yes I said URN

Not exactly audio related, but this project does require a lot of the same tools used (table saw, miter saw, router, etc...). Our great dane/lab mix was put down a few weeks ago and the wooden urn that he came back in was mediocre at best. Decided to build a much nicer one out of walnut and curly maple. Keep in mind that everything you see I made from rough lumber. None of the fancy details you see were pre-purchased.

shot of the main box mocked up and taped together. Notice the detail that was routed in to the side.

    gluing up

look at that sweet box clamp!

molding routed for feet used later on

molding held in place to see how it will look

Feet cut out and glued up

as it sits now. Still working on the top piece. more pictures to come.

speaking as a funeral person, if you ever decided to make those commercially, you would have a good market. both for humans and pets, it is a growing demographic. great work btw.

unregistered guest, thank you? My heart is hardly large. I just love woodworking. And this project got the approval from the wife since she benefits from it as well (it was her dog)

your screen name makes a lot more sense now! lol. I thought about making more and selling them as well. Im sure I could sell them easy since I wouldnt need to charge nearly what I have seen others online selling for. Only problem though is that besides egay, I wouldnt know where else to sell them. Any thoughts?
