Did kryptonitewhite help with that build?
Given our lateral localization in the midbass is based on ITD, the more directly in front of you the speaker is the less ITD the speaker generates, which translates into less width as your brain interprets the reduced ITD as the source being located more in front of you. I never said the guys truck sounds bad, and there's far more that goes into winning an SQ comp than the location of sounds in the 80-300hz bandwidth. But compared to a wider location the stage in that bandwidth will be more narrow. To some that may be a fair trade-off compared to trying to deaden and seal the doors along with potentially building an adequate enclosed airspace for the drivers. For those reasons the floor may make a better choice...but again, there are trade-offs.
Just looked through that build log. Good ideas. And I like the mids in the floor but I have to remember this is my daily work truck. I don't think the mids would be safe down there. Gonna stick with them in the door locations.
