this definitely does look awesome and they're one hell of a budget at these prices. wish they would've gone with a left/right separate eq, preferably parametric, though.
According to Pioneer's website, the 4000NEX up to the 8000NEX all have the time alignment

Here's the manual for the 4000NEX. It discusses adjustment on page 54 http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/St...nual011714.pdf

sorry, think we might be misunderstanding each other they do have t/a, they just can't run an active setup (no tweeter high pass or midbass band pass)

Does your user manual talk about filters, time alignment, and levels on page 166-169? It looks like the front can be set as high pass, the rear as bandpass, and the sub as low pass. Maybe the manual should have excluded the 5000

I'm not trying to be argumentative, I haven't even seen one in person. I was hoping that it might do something that you didn't know about.

EDIT: after re-reading, it looks like it can do HPF or LPF, but not both...

I can confirm that the AVH-X1700S thru AVH-X5700BHS have the 3-way filter

Thanks for clearing that up Al. I was actually hoping Chris was about to get an early Christmas present in his existing head unit.

The AVH-X2700BS looks like my new baby. Don't need HD radio or dual camera input which seems to be the only difference between the remaining units.

do they have an app that can control this? that would certainly make it easier to tune from the seat (there's a big difference in moving your head a few feet forward to adjust the screen settings vs adjusting from your listening position).

If not an app, what about this old school method?

i actually wonder if these will come with a remote, as i understand it the avh-4000nex is the only nex unit that shipped with a remote. the 5000 and above didn't get one. wonder if that will trickle down to the lower end units also.
