This is going to take a while
The build has finally started. Modifying the floor, moving the firewall and relocating the engine is on the list. Not to mention a frame off complete build.
The gear:
source- iPad
tweeter- accuton c30-6-358
midrange- accuton c168-6-990
woofer- acoustic elegance true IB (not sure what size yet)
processor- helix dsp ultra
amplifiers- zapco reference 200.2 x4 (modified by Matt Roberts), reference 1100.1
The starting point.

Re: This is going to take a while
Plenty of room behind the cab for the motor. This will allow the woofer to be located in the firewall Attachment 18320

Re: This is going to take a while
discussing with the builder where the radiator can fit without interfering with the woofer.

The next step is to get the new floor in, mock up the seat locations so we can get the midrange and tweeter locations finalized.

Re: This is going to take a while
I'm glad to see this finally gain some traction. Will it be done in time for my meet in November? :D
-
Re: This is going to take a while
I think that would be pushing things but you never know. If the interior isn't finished but he truck is running and painted, I'll show up with the gauge cluster zip tied to a bracket if I have to.

Re: This is going to take a while
By the way, for those who I haven't met, I'm the one that looks like santa clause in the summer.

Re: This is going to take a while
It probably helps to let people know your previous screen name was alpinem over at that other place...for those who have met you, but didn't put it together

Re: This is going to take a while
Are you saying those are pictures where you're designing the engine around your sound system?
What vehicle is/was that?
-
Re: This is going to take a while
Yes, engine, firewall, floor……and the truck is a 1939 ford coe. Going to be a daily driver service truck.

Re: This is going to take a while
We found a LT2 6.2 motor from a 2022 corvette that has about 20k miles. We are checking to see if anyone makes an aftermarket wire harness/computer for it since it is so new. If such a thing exists, that is the motor that will go in the truck. Wish me luck.....I really want to use this engine.

Re: This is going to take a while
Figured out seat, pedal, steering wheel, speaker and amplifier locations. Also ordered an acoustic elegance sbp12 with the Apollo upgrade. I don't know why the pics are sideways.......can't figure out how to rotate them.

Re: This is going to take a while
I think they are from a fiat spyder. Not positive. The builder had them laying around and they seem to fit well, plus I got a great deal on them.

Starting the mock-up of the firewall with the AE12”

Re: This is going to take a while
The motor from the corvette is a no go. I found a gen 2 coyote engine that will be delivered tomorrow. I guess I’m going to keep it in the ford family. With the aftermarket computer/tune, headers and intake we should be around 480-500hp. That should be plenty to push around that truck.

Re: This is going to take a while
That thing is going to be a beast

moved the woofer up about 1 1/2”. The last pic is the 3/16” steel structure that will get welded to the 16g firewall.

The structure just needs to be welded in. Also, the coyote motor showed up.

Attachment 18522Attachment 18521Attachment 18523Attachment 18524Attachment 18525There has been a lot of progress on the truck just not in the audio portion of the build. The cab was sandblasted, back window was deleted and amprack was welded to the roof to mount two of the amplifiers (each one contains 2 reference 200.2 amps). The 2 amps will be mounted back to back and look like one giant amp. The third amp will be located behind the seats on the back wall.

Re: This is going to take a while
The hood hinge has been fabricated and mounted. radiator is installed and the woofer has plenty of clearance.
-
Re: This is going to take a while
That's one pretty slick hinge there.

Couple more pics. The drivers are mounted on a baffle to help visualize. Always a compromise with one thing or another. Stage vs width, height vs depth.

I know this isn’t audio related…..decided on wheel and tire size. Also started work on the box.

Re: This is going to take a while
Wow! That is going to be one awesome rig!

Re: This is going to take a while
ooOOoo...I didn't know it had a box. What are the plans for that?

Re: This is going to take a while
Strange question. Does anyone have a Tesla model s With this type of console? I’m looking for dimensions for the opening the sliding door covers. Trying to find out if I can modify it for the truck to mount an iPad mini behind to hide behind the sliding door.

I know this isn’t audio related but after several years this feels like a milestone that I started to think I wouldn’t see.
Epoxy and first coat of high build primer. Still some banging around to do but progress is being made. Chassis went out to powder coat yesterday.
