What do you do with a Rockford Fosgate T1500 bdcp?
Seriously, I have this rather mint condition Rockford Fosgate T1500 bdcp that I purchased off someone last year with a minty T600 too. My intention originally was to use it with a pair of Sundown SA12 subwoofers in a giant ported box just for the fun of it but then I had a change of plans, sold the SA12 I had, and purchased an AudioFrog GB12 which sounds amazing. I did try the T1500 bdcp once on the singe SA12 with a low gain setting and immediately noticed a change for the better in terms of better sounding bass over the Infinity K1000 that was originally running the SA12. Rockford Fosgate constant power tech is the real deal!
My current sub stage setup includes that GB12 D2 in a net 1.8 cu ft ported box tuned to 31.5 Hz and it sounds really really good. I don't dare try the singe GB12 with the RF 1500 bdcp for fear that it might blow it up as the GB12 seems to barely handle the Infinity K1000 wired into 4 Ohms for about 700 watts RMS (13.8 volts). I could get stupid and purchase another GB12 D2 and wire it in parallel for a 2 Ohm load but this amplifier might be too much even for those together. Ive been modeling various 15" subwoofers like the FI Q series, BL series, and various others against dual GB12 subwoofers and even triple 10" subwoofers but none seem to come across as all that impressive.
Looking for thoughts/ideas from those with experience or maybe I just sell it before I go spending tons of money. :hand: I'm limited to about 3-3.5 cubes (4 tops) in box size and will have to upgrade the 4 gauge power wiring if I want to feed this beast with the 200 + amps it will likely demand at some point. I'm thinking it might be kind of fun to go with a way overkill high power 15, dual 12, or triple 10 setup tuned low for SQ but with enough SPL to do some hair tricks just for the fun of it and then sell it off before the wife kills me, lol.
Just brain storming here for the fun of it.

Go with high excursion 8s in the f150 and do hair tricks there. I know the sd3s will take around 750 without trouble, at least my 12 did for year(s).

Lol, I have an SD3 10 in that regular cab Ford in a 1 cub ported box that barely fits behind the seats and it sounds awesome. I was thinking more for the Mazda Josh. Maybe I’ll model some 8’s this weekend and see what they can do or maybe 3 SD3 12’s sealed, hmm.

I did an idq12 down fired in the back of an 06 f150 standard cab on 750w. Just built the box to contour the seat back

I was curious and had some time today so I messed around swapping the Rockford Fosgate t1500 bdcp with the Infinity K1000 that has been in the car for over a year driving my GB12 and SA12 before that. First thing I noticed was that the Rockford Fosgate bdcp seemed to have slightly tighter and cleaner bass with less boom or overhang in the bass. The difference is very very small and I had to swap the amps back and forth about 10 times. The RF seems to have maybe more control over the GB12 so the quality of the bass is slightly better. The other thing I noticed is that the bass seemed quieter with the Rockford Fosgate t1500 bdcp even though I set the voltage for the gains exactly the same. To confirm my suspicions I ran some REW measurements playing pink noise to confirm if what I perceived to hear was true and REW showed that they were playing at exactly the same levels with the exception of .5 db more output at the tuning frequency of 31.5 Hz, arguably because of the constant power of the Rockford Fosgate t1500 bdcp.

With the Rockford Fosgate t1500 bdcp I have more headroom than I do with the K1000 mostly due to the fact that I have to wire this GB12 D2 in series because the K1000 is not stable at 1 Ohm. The K1000 puts out about 690 watts RMS and the Rockford Fosgate t1500 bdcp about 1100 watts RMS. Now I have to find a way to fit this beautiful amplifier into this car and run two GB12's. :hand: Looks like I may have to take out the spare tire to do that, lol. :daniel:
