Rebuilt sail panels for my new Focal Utopia Tweeters
OK... I've actually ony rebuilt one sail so far. Will do the second one this weekend.
The tweeters:

The OEM sail (which is actually an entire window surround trim piece):
I cut out the Harman-Kardon OEM tweeter grille, and then cut it a bit higher.

My first attempt at ever making tweeter pods / sails.
Haven't used Bondo since high school (mid 80's).
All I can say is; these tweeters sound PHENOMINAL!
I knew they'd be nice, but I never expected them to be this detailed.

I can't wait to hear these JimmyDee! They look fantastic.

Those look awesome.
My favorite tweets are fortunately a little easier to manage than those - but also Focal. The Power tweets... I have a set from about 10 years ago that I'm still dying to use.
That being said - you did an awesome job managing their size. That really came out looking downright OEM.
Did you actually re-texture the whole door panel? Did you use a texture spray? That detail really nails it, in my opinion.
Curious on the aiming - how long did it take you to settle in on that angle?

Yes, I sprayed the whole thing with SEM Texture, and then finished with SEM Black Trim paint.
... then I decided I wanted something better, and ended-up wrapping the whole thing with Alcantara!

I didn't go crazy with the aiming... like, I didn't use a laser pointer, or anything.
I just put the cups (that came with the tweeters) in the spot where they kinda faced me, but still looked good.
Then I glued them into place, and finished the profile around them with Bondo.

Oh I didn't mean with laser pointers or anything crazy.
Just was wondering if there was a long listening and positioning session that led to that particular on-axis orientation.
The pillars looks great - I mean it's not only perfectly OEM looking, but really shows off those sexy tweeters.
Definitely top class.

Nope. Nothing like that.
Purely visual placement and orientation.
