Howdy from Texas! I'm old and working on my first 'budget' build. What do y'all thi
My first (and only?) kid turned one today. I recently traded my car in for a 2018 Civic LX sedan. Perfect cheap, dad, commutef car.
Wellllll, the stereo sucks. My daughter LOVES music. As in, she's been moving to the beat of music since she was 2 months old.
This has led me to open Pandora's Box.
I planned on an ultra budget setup. I didn't want to rattle the cars around me at all. $500....maybe $1000. Maximum! Then I decided to just upgrade my HU, and do the rest piecemeal.
About a month later, I don't have a HU. I do however have:
1 pair Focal ES 165KX2
1 Clarus c15sw d2 (maybe 2)
1 DD D5.1000
1 Helix DSP Pro Mk2 + Bluetooth (pending)
1 lighter wallet
1 overwhelming amount of work with no tools or experience.
1 desperate need to sound proof the trunk.
1 need to find the exact dimensions of my trunk so I can play with building a custom sealed box.
Clearly things are going EXACTLY as planned.

In my experience things are going swimmingly then. 'Par for the course' :D
As far as boot (trunk) dimensions go you could try cars101.com; they often have some measurements of cars...hope that helps

If you're building a box for 2x15" in a small(ish) sedan, don't just check the dimensions of the trunk itself, but also the trunk lid aperture ;)

Ha! That's funny. I'm probably only going to install one. I really don't think my little sedan needs 2 15s.
The HAT sub fits in a damn small sealed box for it's size. My two ideas were to either install it IB. Which would negate the 60/40 seats, or to see how much cargo room I could maintain covering either the 60 or the 40. Rather than a box that I could just move around.

Howdy Fellow Texan!!! Not sure how "old" you are but I'm quite certain that there are fellows in here that have kids of their own.
I myself have 2. One almost turning 3 and the other turned 1 last month.
edit.. Also I read your first post too fast and thought.. how in the heck did you get all of that for $1000...
