I had great mid-bass response from the HD6s and I wouldn't be surprised if their 6x9s do well too.
On a different note...have you considered running a good quality 2-way or 3-way 6x9 and just crossover to the mid-bass frequencies? I have JBL GTO939s running LS 24db from 80 to 250. They're spitting out TONS of midbass! I've actually run them at 60hz too, but decided my subs blend in better at 80hz.

First component set I ever ran active back in 04ish was the CDT ef6 with tw24 tweeter. I ran the poopoo out of them and dejo's brother-in-law ran the poopoo out of them for years after I was done with them. Later ran the hd6's too that were just a rebadged Vifa Classic series woofer iirc.
As far as GOOD 6x9 coaxials go, Chrysler has made it VERY difficult to get a GOOD 6x9 in the doors of a 4th gen Ram. The big problem is that stupid window track support that resides 2" inside the pod making an open basket AND a magnet not too wide a must. Since it's a very important part of the door cutting is out of the question. Last year I emailed CDT about a couple of their 6x9's to get more exact measurements on them with the two pics I'm posting below and they never got back to me. Unfortunately that sounds like a good reason for me to NOT spend money with them.

I had some trouble getting the Hybrid Audio and Stevens Audio numbers right as their numbers are a little bit wonky and Hybrid Audio doesn't provide Le so I guessed .4 mH for the Hybrid so it could be a little off in the upper end roll off. Also attached are the PDF files for each one so you can check my numbers. If you're looking for more midbass over the Scanspeak then I wouldn't say the Stevens MB-6 is going to do it and even the Hybrid 6*9 doesn't make much more than the Scanspeak. At 80 Hz they compare in SPL as Stevens 102.9 Hz, Hybrid 104.1 Hz, and Scanspeak 103.8 Hz.

Also, doesnt midbass impact have a lot to do with the harmonics of the midrange tune?
Re: HAT Unity shallow 6x9 vs Stevens mb6
Well, wouldn't the cone area of the Unity make it more dominant down low with tuning as long as enough power gets dumped on it?

I think the Hybrid Audio will provide more lower end response below about 115 Hz but if you have a HP at 80 Hz then it wont make much of a difference unless you change the tune. What area of midbass are you looking for an increase in?

Here is the Audiofrog GS 690 in blue for your reference. As you can see in the graph its superior in midbass response to all the other options.

SPL is 108.5 at 80 Hz

Really just wanting to go to something that will hold up better in a car door with more power handling than my Scans. Cross point will remain at 80 most likely but would like the option to drop it down to 70 or even 60.

The curve on the gs690 is why I'm still annoyed that it wouldn't fit without serious surgery. Even tried an offset spacer but just wouldn't quite go without risking buzzing the door card with the cone.

I’m away from my computer right now but the JL Audio C5 midbass might be the trick. I will check when I get back. My 6x8 C5 in my truck have decent midbass.
