I'll be there competing in MECA and Iasca. Are you?
Wanted to go, but not looking realistic at the moment for me. I may still head up on Saturday, but last time I did that it was a brutal drive there and back in a day.
Yes, I will be competing in both MECA and IASCA. I have won some local shows this year in MECA and attended Nick Apicella's MASQ show a couple months back. I think I finished mid-pack of about 18 cars. Looking forward to meeting new folks. I feel like I already know everyone here. I live in Pittsburgh so I'm pretty close. Maybe someday I'll venture south for one of those famous NC GTG's.
Looks like we're in the same MECA class
:catfight:
Your going down for the count Big Al. The more competitors, the better. I hate getting that participation trophy. I was the only SQ guy at the last one. I love your truck and can't wait to see and hear it. I traded my 2014 Silverado High Country for the Subaru.
My highest score so far has been 79, but I'm hoping to break 80 next weekend. My last experiment didn't do so well, I got the image too far right and bass too low (hard to believe with an 18  )
I haven't scored above 80 all year. Very dissapointing. I have a lack of bass and crunchy midbass. I think I have that problem kicked with new subs and a better tune. Center seems rock solid now.
Looks like its just the two of us Al. Look me up. I'll be the overweight aging bald guy.
Heh...we're even in the same class there
I know Howard (chefhow), Bo (Zippy), Kris (BenvolentDictator), Nick (Skizer), and Tony (RockinRidgeline) will be there
Zero chance of me going now, wife's car is at the body shop until at least Monday and no where has any rental cars, been trying to get one all week and so far having no luck whatsoever. Enjoy, take some pictures!
I know Howard and Nick. It will be great meeting everyone. I'll get there sometime tomorrow early evening.

Tru story, bro.
Not too shabby for my first event ever. Great cars and great SOUNDING cars there....totally blew my mind finally hearing some proper setups. Met Bo, Howard and Jay and the man of the hour Al finally and that was awesome. Had a great time, thanks to Al for reminding me of it and helping me feel comfortable and meeting a ton of folks there, seeing a few builds that I only knew from videos and internet articles.
The avalon has some new ideas to implement.
Hope all are well.
Kris, it was nice meeting you and hanging out. Maybe you can make it to a NC/VA meet.
I'm thinking I may try to talk my friend into riding out to the Sundown event. I'll look into it more and run it by him. Will also try to make it to the next Pulaski event.
I have plans to be at Sundown, but not sure if I can make Pulaski, I'm running out of vacation days. If I can't make Sundown, I'll do Pulaski, instead
Yeah just let me know how you'll play it. I have to burn some days at my job so this may be the excuse i need.
This was my first big show and it was amazing. Met a lot of great people for the first time (Big Al and Tony Rodriguez). Sorry I didn't get to meet you Kris but we'll put all the blame on Al since he didn't introduce us. Much to my surprise I placed 2nd in IASCA out of 11 cars. I placed 18th out of the top 30 and picked up a nice pair of JAMO home bookshelf speakers with stands. I did not place in the top 3 of MECA. I was really hoping to pick up some points there. All in all though, in the back of my mind I was saying, "Don't finish last, Don't finish last". I'll see if I can find some photos that Al didn't already show.
some more photos
Travis Chin judged my truck, and told me my right midbass didn't seem to be playing...especially noticeable on tracks with only right-channel information. I got in and listened, and it was playing fine one normal stereo content, but when playing right channel identification, the woofer was completely silent. Before I could do anything to fix it, Mike Flanagan came over to judge and I just kept my fingers crossed. When he got out, he said it was the highest he's ever scored it, but when listening to "Dock of the Bay" the right channel sounded really thin, so I needed to check my woofer. I pulled out the laptop and eventually figured out my routing in the Helix was wrong...I had both left and right midbass being fed by only the left channel. I fixed the routing and it didn't change my image very much, but I ended up with some interaction issues with my sub. I ended up finishing 6 out of 9 in Meca, and dead last in both Iasca and Emma

Al, if you can rotate those sidways pictures you have my permission
I have the permission, but not the ability
And I'm too dumb to figure it out. Just turn your head a little guys.
I would have done introductions, but I don't really like either one of you

Al and Naiku that sucks and I feel your pain. I had a similar issue a couple years ago. I went to change something simple in the Helix an hour prior to an event and accidently shut off the crossover to my right midrange. Needless to say I scored a 55 that day.
i've listened to teresa, brian, mark, and robert's vehicles many times. i'm glad they made it out to SVR. :)
i'll make it out one year.
