You don't have to buy it. There are plenty of people that weren't fans of it because it starts to open a door that you might not be able to close. I'm not a fan of probable cause or stacks of signed warrants that are otherwise blank either.

That's interesting. Maybe you're right but can you provide some evidence that the Patriot Act didn't accomplish it's goal of saving lives and preventing attacks?

I'm not either. You can talk hypotheticals all day. I'm just pointing out every situation is different. In rare occasions we might do things we normally wouldn't for the greater good

I disagree that there were VERY few who disagreed. There were MANY MANY MANY who disagreed and spoke out quite strongly on the subject. I also disagree with many provisions of the Patriot Act. But much like the ACA, it was pushed through on emotion and political pressure without any foresight on how the chips were going to fall or how things would be implemented, no to mention the potential for abuse.
Yeah - Patriot Act, red flag laws, ACA, screw all that shit.

No problem with anyone disagreeing with it. But even if there were a few million that disagreed that would be very few all things considered. I don't agree with everything the Patriot Act did either but I would say chances are pretty damn good some good things were accomplished with it. The public will never know most of them.

Compared to what?
I do not accept that the goals of the Patriot Act are limited to saving lives and preventing attacks. And even if they are as stated, they are not worth the cost of essential liberty.

The true greater good is individual liberty.

I'm waiting for you to say that the 2nd Amendment should be repealed because it could save some lives.
