VW probably thought it wouldn't sell that good in the US, otherwise I can think of no reason why they wouldn't get it there. Sure, it's less spacey than the Golf V on which it's based, but it's sportier and much cooler-looking.
On second thought, maybe that's the reason. Product cannibalism isn't very good, especially against "icons" like the Golf.
It's why the Civic Si is watered down for the USA.. it would be a cocksucker to try to sell an Acura that a civic whips. We gotta have our status brands yo.
I don't normally go for Volkswagens... but when I do, it has to be a Scirocco.
If only they made it a bit more exciting in the inside...

We used a Gladen SQL12 sub in a 60x20cm birch-ply "subframe"
The customer wanted nothing too fancy, but a nice look on the sub was his wish..

The doors are treated with Silent Coat Extra, Silent coat Noise isolator, and Silent Coat sound absorber 15mm and 35mm
Gladen SQX VW components ( ready fit ) were mounted in stock locations, Mounting-rings damped with Silent Coat extra.

The amps are Mosconi AS300.2 for the sub and AS100.2 for the components, mounted left and right in the trunk under the false floor.
