Re: A Different Sort of Build Thread
Well I'm waiting on parts again, so I decided to tackle the factory battery cables. I am going from 4 gauge to 0 gauged on everything but the alternator wire. I'm sure this mod will eliminate my slow cranking issue. I didn't get it completed because I forgot to order five feet of 4 gauge wire. So guess what I'm doing later tonight?

Re: A Different Sort of Build Thread
Curious...why not the alternator wire? Is it already of a higher gauge than 4? It would make sense to do that one since it's supplying the current to the battery, right?

Oddly enough, that's not where my voltage drop issue is.
Re: A Different Sort of Build Thread
voltage drop can come from alot of places. even the quality of connection/connectors and even grounds
Re: A Different Sort of Build Thread
The build was being held up because I was waiting for these:

New intake valves. The stock ones are no good, and the ones that were given to me were just way too big for me to feel comfortable using. No work will be done Monday because it's a holiday, but more parts will show up. :) It looks like Friday of next week I'll fire up the engine for the first time. That is if I don't have to buy push rods.

There goes that , NOW ... All men are trained to think BIGGER is better ... oh well !
I think you have done an amazing job on this Shauna
Re: A Different Sort of Build Thread
This whole alternator to battery thing still gets my goat..
The voltage delta and current from the alternator to the battery just does not warrant it.
Re: A Different Sort of Build Thread
Chad, how much more current are we talking about with a stout sound system ?
The voltage seems to stay in a 2 volt , delta parameter .
