Captain, if you're not going to be planting soon, I have found an effective way of preparing an area of yard is to put a tarp over the area for as long as you can.

Its an easy way to kill weeds and prepare the soil.

Yes, wife moved here in '93. We're in Anderson Mill, it wasn't actually IN Austin until 4 years ago...
