Slow basic fairly low budget build

Thank you, I believe you are correct. I had the gains all the way down on highs & only slightly above minimum on mids, but after a few more hours of play time I may have slight bit of distortion from the right mid. That or I'm hearing shit, may well be in the market for some replacements

Any thoughts on swapping these for the jbl's in the doors, Peerless 830875 Nomex HDS? or other possible options under $150 or so a pair?

I'd been eyeing the Anarchy prior to getting the jbl's. That was at full price, guess I can hardly lose at nearly half off. I have almost 3" clearance in the door & 1 3/4" thick baffle is what I've got currently. Only problem I could see is I've only got 23-25mm above the mounting surface. I could always take the difference off the baffle thickness if they made contact at full excursion.

Anyone heard or used these personally? I've had poor past experiences with alum coned mids, but really only at higher frequencies then I'd likely run these at

Glenn has used them, and I've heard of others using them. Everybody has nothing but good things to say about them.

I've heard them several times. If I had room, they would be in my car. I have the neo's, they are good drivers. The Anarchy is a great driver. Good from 63-3.5k and really come alive with power.

how much room is there for your jbl's to breathe with a 1 3/4" baffle?

I'm not sure how what you mean? It's a 5 3/4 in circle from top to bottom so it opens in to the door cavity & half ass rounded over the bottom inside edge. I'm open to any comments or suggestions, was just the best way I came up with to mount them.

I've heard them and they are every bit as good as people say. Can get really deep, keep composure into the midrange and take a beating.

I may have missed something, but how are you running 3-way active with only 4 channels of amplification? Are you running the tweets off the headunit?

edit: Nevermind, I just realized there was no mention of a sub.

I'll be damned, I had my suspicions that something was wrong with one of these jbl mids from the start. I had always had decent sound on the left but not so much on the right. Just got worse as the volume increased, assumed it was me fucking up, or just a not as good a speaker as I'd heard it was.

Turns out the spider is not glued to the voice coil! I can't see how at the same power & volume levels that'd happen to one & the other would still be perfectly fine. Got a rma # from Harman so here's hoping that I'll be getting a replacement

No progress. I've been waiting for weeks for replacement speakers to arrive, only to find out I have to wait some more. I am very displeased with the service I've received so far. JBL said it would be 4 day max turn around on shipping out replacements. It's been closer to 4 weeks & now they are saying it'll be first week of August before they're back in stock. Nothing but bullshit single line email replies by way of India, customer service at it's finest :disbelief:

Those MS components are amazing. Hard to beat for the price, that's for sure. Paired with a W10Gti, best simple passive system I've ever heard.
