Sexual intercorsa...

You earlier mentioned that the tweeters were located in a way that produced symmetric reflections from the windshield and the side window - not "left to right".
You said that caused a cancellation and - if I recall correctly - a narrower stage in that range, I thought.

I was thinking that's why you moved the tweets slightly toward the windshield and away from the side windows. That's the newly asymmetric position/reflection I was referring to.

Or was it a different reason you moved them in?

Ah I see… yeah basically I altered the location of the tweeter a little to do as you say… Move it from the side window and towards the screen somewhat

it’s widened the stage on the passenger side and done good, also it’s removed some reflection from the drivers side window… I may go a step further with that… watch this space…

So in the meantime I have added some trim to the top of the sub baffle, also added some trim to the rear panel and edge lit the leds in white, also painted the side panels behind the mosconi pro’s, just black for now as I don’t think you’ll see them at all…

ordered some more leds in white as I ran out

its all going quite well this week fingers crossed!

So a little more got done, filled and sanded, it’s now got Milano suede added, I will make the side panels this week and get them trimmed and finished with inset edge lit plexi also

Tonight has been cut the 2 windows to the pros… approx 1cm inside the amps perimeter edges

cut the edge of the holes with a 1/2” rebate bit and then routed the extra free hand! Small 12mm screws hold the polycarbonate in place, hopefully the shadows in the corners won’t show with the edge lighting, I will fix it with four screws and ca glue once I’ve trimmed it

I get that you have to make a rack around those Mosconi amps on the sides...

...but wow, I didn't realize what lookers those are. Sexy amps - even the sides, the mounting flange, the detail of the front mesh going to the sides... Wow.
They just don't sell them around me.

Now I want those amps [emoji38]

Looking awesome with the suede. It's really looking unique, in a modern and absolutely great way. I'm sure these side racks will as well.

So today was a wee bit of ta and eq adjustment for an hr, it’s squared the stage up no end and is pretty much tape measure, with a little extra delay on the drivers side… the stage is immense, it’s almost twice as wide as I am sat from it, it puts excellent space between instruments, I get 1-15 for depth, 1-15 for width, the stage is not quite base of the screen, but width is outside the bottom of the screen width and the space around instruments is good for getting the imaging points… compromises always!

also has excellent sub bass, midbass integration and the bass drums on the 2022 Emma cd are all where they should be over the bonnet, I don’t have beryllium tweeters only bliesma silk, long story… the beryllium will be back once they’ve been to see their dad in Germany

Locating blocks for the side panels have been mounted and the lower spacers/lip have been made and assembled, the panels will slot into place and then be secured from the parcel shelf/front side of the build

ive glued and shaped the top panels to the freshly chamfered panels in the pics above… they line up and match pretty well!

I’ll do some more and hopefully have the boot finished this weekend!

So I have side panels and a boot install now! I’ll finish wiring the lights up tomorrow and then make some beauty panels

at some point this week I have to label all the cables for master

Well… the left tweeter wasn’t right, bled over the screen a treat, chop chop… new a pillar mount fashioned that was a lot better and 90% of freqs were at the tweeter so all good, I’ve also lowered the tweeter crossover to 2k and also found that better in its new state! Have to add a usb hub tomorrow, then my mates coming for a tuning session on his car on Saturday at the workshop, then Sunday it’s go time! First show of the new season… and we have another show in august also! best have kicks made by then

also courtesy of Lojze off here a new background for the iPad with a satori in the bottom corner, and also he’s done me a cracking job of a system diagram in mega resolution… it’s almost a shame to print it on paper with a normal printer! It’s very polished! Thanks @lb audio… he’s as good at graphic design as he is making painted pillars! 😎

Car show incoming! Shiny! And a judge book for my presentation! I’ll also do a public version as we get 7 minutes to do the judge presentation to cover specific topics and points, so it’s not doable to cover everything… the public one will be way more detailed with all the pics of the current build….

the last section of the judge book was interesting… craftsmanship points - other items… I didn’t know where to start! Let’s hope I’ve done an ok job! Here… We… Go! :)

First show with the new build… first place in master limited with the big boys (ps sound’s eddy, and pritesh from Platinum in car)

Oh hell yes - well deserved. Fully earned.
A first right out of the gate with a new install... That's got to feel awesome.

With all the evolution through the front stage install, I know you were picky about all the details, so I can't say I'm surprised. I wish I could hear it myself. That first trophy says it all - success

what makes it nicer is both the other installs are done by shops, I’m just little old me pinching my mates workshop space of a night (and some weeks also)

now to make the front stage better :)

Well done and much deserved. You put in a ton of work and have a wealth of knowledge. You have helped me tremendously with all your posting. Thank you and congratulations.

Second show today…

first place and a second win for the car

I have myself a well earned cold beer as it’s been roasting and sweaty all day!

So I have done a bit of an improved tune with it flat from 200-20khz for pure sq, the well recorded detailed music of the Emma tracks is good on this at Emma levels and very detailed with good upper midrange and treble

as a daily preset I have also paid tribute to jazzi and incorporated his 3.1khz -3db dip with a Q of 1, this roughly replicates his dip from his house curve, preserves sparkle but gets rid of the harsh bits when I crank it!

I really like my system being flat from about 200hz-20khz and the "BBC" or "Jazzi" dip.

When I had the small roll off like the JBL/Andy curve has, it didn't sound quite right. I think this is because the high frequency roll off is generally there due to air attenuation of high frequencies. This happens in homes due to distance away from the speakers. This doesn't really happen in most cars since we sit so close. So flat sounds right to me in the car.
