Notloudenuf’s Deck rebuild and Expansion

I guess I am calling this complete. I will add the paver patio this fall so I am going to have to wait to install the stair railings.
I made the valences today and cut off all the posts to the correct height. I have some lights I will install when the (hot) weather allows.

I also added some black shutters to the back of the house today. It kinda breaks up the monochromatic white that it was.

Shutters on tha back.......gettin a lil high falutin there ain't ya? Lmao.......deck turned out sweet....

It was enjoyable getting text updates along the way, but it is certainly fantastic to see the entire project here - from drawing to completion. That is an amazing job! I wish I had those skills :)

I'm going to have to look at that Trex decking when we redo ours. My deck is probably 20 years old, and it looks terrible! When we re-do ours, it will be covered and screened - so we need to decide if it is 'worth' it to pay the premium for the Trex. I do love the way it looks and the fastening without nails ;)

You did an amazing job with this! I love the arch and the railings - Chit and I are going to have to come over for a BBQ!......maybe, we could even bring Claydo.......:)

I built 2 benches (only got a picture of 1) and 2 little potted plant stands with some treated lumber and leftover decking material.
When the lumber dries out I'm going to paint the bases black.

Also got started on the lighting as well. You can see those beside the bench.

Only a year behind the rest of the deck but I got the step railings up yesterday.
I was waiting to put them up because we had planned to build a patio but I don't think that's gonna happen anytime soon so I went ahead with the railing.

We got our old cheap builder grade windows replaced last week. We went with Lowe's Reliabilt 3900 series windows. https://www.lowes.com/pd/ReliaBilt-...-x-53-75-in-Actual-35-75-in-x-53-5-in/3732559 That's not the price we paid because ours were a different size.
We got triple pane, ultra low-e glass, double hung, tilt in, 6 over 6, grills between the glass, full screen windows. Since our house had "new construction" style windows we bought the replacement windows with the nailing flange.
Ok, everybody fully educated on windows now? Good!

We started in the garage in case there was a problem or the low chance we had the wrong size shipped.

I mean there was never a doubt or anything so I meant to do that.

We did find some rot in the corners of the framing that we replaced. Pretty sure it was because the windows weren't taped in and waterproofed properly. It wasn't too bad overall.

This is what it looks like with the siding off. It's amazing how the sun can bleach through the siding onto the fan fold insulation.

I'm constantly impressed with your DIY skills! If I had half the skill you have, my garage would likely be almost done by now.
