So as some of you know, my mother-in-law fell off of her steps about 6 weeks ago and broke 6 ribs. Her house is just a little brick ranch built in 1977 so everything is poorly made at best. As my wife works cleaning out the inside to remove 40 years of accumulated junk, I work on the outside getting the place a little safer.
First order of business was making her car port steps better. They were very narrow brick steps so I over laid them with double 2x8s

Next order of business was cleaning up the back patio where she actually fell. Had to remove the rotten privacy fence and some decorative junk.

Now time to move on to building a deck over those steps.

My Dad came over on Saturday and helped me get to this stage
I was able to finish all the balusters and railings on Sunday.
