Nissan Cube SQ project with Focal Utopia M

Looking nice.

I see 6 channel DSP but at least 7 channels needed? You running the sub off the HU or something for crossover/TA/EQ?

The p-six dsp has 8 channels of dsp, six run to a to f channels internally and there’s g and h which are an rca output which will then run to his 2 channel bridged to run the sub :)

Yep, what these guyses said :D

With a P Six you could even run a 3-way active component set up front, subwoofer (summed stereo for mono output) on 1 of the preout channels and rear fill (summed stereo) on the last output channel.

No current plans for rear fill, but could be doable with a third amplifier connected to the P Six.

Please do! :D

I did actually sell some of the components that were a part of the setup though.. just not for TP. But to make ends meet in these crazy times.

My goal was to have the car ready for car show season, but since everything is cancelled (or at least postponed indefinitely) that timetable is extended. So we'll see how things pan out over time.

Actually did something audio related with the car today, it's been a while!

I found out that the OEM speaker "grille" in the doorcard (the perforations) measured pretty much exactly 165mm, the same as the outer diameter on the midbass drivers that are going in the doors. It also had a small ring on the outside of the perforations that can be a base for a new trim ring/grille.

So I ordered a 165mm hole saw and promptly cut away the perforated part.

As you can see, the OEM speaker (and cutout) was not centered in relation to the grille, so I will have to cut a bit of metal and center the new speaker rings in relation to the door card.

From earlier I had some pvc speaker rings made to the cut out and outer dimensions of the Focal 6WM drivers. Now they fit snugly in the hole I cut:

I taped three of them together to reach the door skin so I could see exactly where they need to be mounted to center with the door card.

I marked out where the door skin have to be cut, and will make some test spacers that are a bit shallower than the 3x rings I tested with. I think I want to have the face of the speaker just inside of the door card and make a new, more open grille. Probably with some hexagon metal mesh.

Good to have something done after a looong time with no activity.. Even if it's such a small task like this.

corsa D have the same issue with the midbass door mountings, I moved the driver forwards approx 20mm to get it out from being tucked in, god knows why... my theory is they used corsa c pressings and modified the edges to suit... and another department made the plastics
