Fric Epic-urious build thread! People have cried...

if I recall correctly, you mentioned that you flipped polarity on one midbass with almost no ta..

What if you flip it back, and delay the drivers side 1 maybe 1,5 ms?

How do they perform in fullrange mode?

How do they sound with no ta on the midbasses ( midbasses only ) ?

So I determined my driver side L8 was a culprit of much noise and resonances, while the passenger side is putting out clean tones down to 50hz. The installs on both sides are identical for the most part. Except those of you who have been following since the original build may remember that I had to remove some of the concrete from one of the doors pods in order to make the speaker fit. Well I suspect the frame of the speaker was still resting on the concrete somewhat. So I made a ring to sit in the pod and mount the speaker 1/2" further out.

This is the only thing I can think of that would be causing the speaker cone to make so much noise. Hopefully this takes care of the problem.

I also added a bunch of damplifier to the inner door skin and covered up whatever holes I could find. If also like to note that I noticed very little difference in output with the MLV/CCF acoustic barrier in place or removed.

Mind = fucking blown!

Granted the car always sounds better while I am doing some critical listening in my garage. But I believe the problem is solved. No more ugly cone/door resonances, aside from the usual panel and dash nuisances (which I found to be coming from where the door panel presses against the side of the dash just inside the door jam).

But holy shit did everything change!

My entire stage seems to have shifted to the left about 6"-1' and midbass-mid range on the left side is so overpowering that even Christopher Walken would be happy with the amount of cowbell offered up! It's too soon to say before a full retune, but moving that speaker 1/2" closer to the speaker grill my have solved a few of the other issues I was having.

Ok Gurus, maybe this is just psycho acoustics but is it possible that such a change in the driver side midbass had me hearing what I perceived to be a little depth?

Welcome aboard! Thanks for your interest. :)

If you happen to read through the last few pages and have anything to offer by the way of tuning techniques, I'd love to hear it.
