Thank you Mr. Howard - that definitely does help. Planning to park the truck and drive this most of the time. Not really going for a competition car, but would like to have a really enjoyable sound every day.

Hey man, you know I'll always accept advice! Still trying to figure things out actually. Getting lots of recommendations for a single IDMAX15, but it's hard to justify that price tag right now with three perfectly capable 15" subs sitting in the garage.

I ain't even going down the amplifier road yet. Geez...
 
Well. Thanks to BigAl - we're going down the amplifier road!!!

He made an offer on an Audioque mono I could not refuse. Should be plenty of power for just about any subwoofer setup that could be desired. Went ahead and grabbed the matching four channel SoundQubed currently offers, the Q4.150. Seems like a really good price for decent power from a Class AB amplifier.

Now to figure out where to mount those big babies at.

Also scored a set of wheels and tires from a local guy. Turns out his son and mine have been friends since kindergarten, crazy small world sometimes.

Wheels are on... the car looks way too tall now. Need to order some lowering springs now, and new struts.

Ahhh, you are reading my mind. Definitely want to upgrade lighting soon too. Hate the amber turn signal lens from the factory. Just a pet peeve of mine, have always disliked amber lenses.

Really digging those sequential LED tail lights they also offer.
 
Well there you go.....I'm sure there's a better kit than what I've shared but good to know you were thinking along those lines.

Ohhhh... opinion question. It's tweeter time!!! So, should they mount in the sail panels, or the A pillars? Found some PVC caps that are just a tiny bit too small, but with some sanding should hold those XS28 tweeters great.

May need to trim some off the end of each cap, they definitely stick out way too much. Can't sink them too far into the sails though, or they'll hit the sheet metal.

I would use hot glue to temporarily try different options...or make it adjustable, like I did in my Element

Strictly my own opinion, but the Golf is my first car that came with a-pillar tweets and I like how it sounds more than the sail panel tweets I've done in my last couple of cars.

But the best thing you can do is create some sort of temporary mount and experiment with both locations to see what you like, every car is different and everyone has their own preferences. Sails are usually less intrusive install-wise.

Your build looks sick in your signature goat...sheesh. I bet it sounds amazing
 
Thanks! It's an unusual setup with some compromises but it's punchy, clean and dynamic at fairly loud volumes. Practical too. That's mainly what I'm after in a daily-driver system.

I have a sub and amps upgrade planned, unfortunately those items have been delayed by a few months. I just gotta stay patient!
