Has anybody seen it done?

Impressing hot tail with my audio.
Haven't seen it but it could work depending on the amp's thermal situation.
In the rear seat backs yes and replacing the rear seat base (I did this but didn’t use the seats). Not seen it for front seats.

Not sure if you have found your answer yet. I Put 2 precision Power amps inside the back set of my Honda Accord back in I think 1998 or 99. Seat was still functional, ran 2 fans, one push & one pull to keep air flowing. Attached is a couple of pics as it was coming together. The end caps hadn’t arrive yet in these pics.
Yes it was heavy but damn it would catch peoples eyes as they walk by, glance in & almost all stopped to check it out. Such a fun build. I had a 200amp alternator & a 15 farad C.A.P that had just come out on the market but damn the PPI would suck up the power conversely it hammered those 10’s.
I remember seeing an install in an old CA&E. They put the amps in the backs of the back seats. It looked like the seats were "functional". I was always intrigued by that idea. Thought about doing it and trying to figure out how mount it all. It kind of seemed like the old monitor in the headrest-make some cuts, take out the foam and put a box for the amp in the back of the seat. Then I had kids.......
