    SQOLOGY Aggieland Questions

I have been looking at attending a SQ event this year as a visitor and feel this one might be the ticket. However, I have no idea what to expect, as I haven't been to such a show before. I was planning to fly in/out of Houston, so I can catch a few Astros games too. I had a few questions I was hoping someone who's attended the show before can answer.

Is there a recommended day to attend (sat or sun)?
How many guests attend in a day?
    Whats parking like for visitors?
Should I consider spending the night in College Station?
What is the drive like from Houston to College Station?
Can a pasty zamboni driver from Canada survive the weather at that time?

Honestly, any tips or potential pitfalls would be welcomed. This is just an initial feeler, but it seems like a doable trip. Baseball and SQ competitions = Happy blockrocker!

You're coming from Canada, right? Go to finals.

Is finals in Indiana each year?
    Edit: Sorry, Kentucky?

Aggieland is the biggest show of the year outside of Finals and one many competitors attend instead of Finals.
There are between 40-50 SQ cars that are judged over 2 days and 90% of them are open for demos when ever you want.
They come from all over the US and Mexico and they NEVER disappoint!!
IF you decide to go to Aggieland stay in College Station, its like 2 hours between Intercontinental Airport and MTI.
Parking is usually tight but there are spaces in the parking lot and there is plenty of parking across the street.
Yes a pasty Canadian can survive, in April its not nearly as bad as in June when even Texans like myself have a hard time.

You may also want to consider going to SVR. You can fly into Pittsburgh, be a shorter (and probably cheaper) flight for you. It is one of the three biggest SQ shows of the year not including finals. The atmosphere is great, the show is at the casino (same place as hotel), and cars are always open for demoing.

Really, if you attend SVR, Aggieland, or the Hybrid show you will get all of the demos you can handle from many of the best cars in the hobby.

Not that it's a big selling point, but if you attend either Hybrid or SVR my vehicle(s) is pretty much always open to demo.
I've got a budget of $1,000. That should be more than enough.

I'm pretty excited to make it out this year. I tried to get the SVR but the cards just didnt fall into place with the move.

This. Any of the SQology events would be good for demos. I have only been to the HAT show, though, because it's closer to me. Of these three shows, SVR would probably be my personal choice simply because it’s indoors.
The HAT show can be pretty dang brutal because it’s in Atlanta at the end of May and outdoors so it’s hot. I’m just glad they moved it up because it used to be at the end of June.
Aggieland being in Texas in April; it’s not too bad I wouldn’t think.

Since these are regional events you'll get the more regional competitors but there are still many who go to 2 or all 3. That said, even though Finals can be a bit tougher to squeeze in a demo between judges, I think it’s comparable to any of the SQology events and that's where I would recommend you going. Nearly everyone is there. The competitors these days are all laid back and even though it’s finals you can still get a demo in nearly every car. The ones who don’t give demos at finals are the same ones who don’t give demos at any other show. Plus, the airport is literally less than 2 miles away so you can just get an Uber from the airport to your hotel and walk from the hotel to the Expo center (which is what I have done the past couple years since I leave my car parked at the event center).
