    Re: What's your setup.

I currently just have a basic setup:

    2 Chane Floor standing A5.4's
    1 Chane matching center
    Yamaha AVR
1 UM 18 in Marty enclosure.
AudioEngine B1 AptxHD for BT streaming

Also, I hear alot of great things about DIYSG speakers! I dont own any (yet) nor have i heard them (yet), but wondering if any here have heard them or have them. The only thing close that I have to this is a Dayton UM18 Sub in a large "Marty" enclosure.

Looking into hearing some DIYSG speakers such as the famous 1099's!

    Re: What's your setup.

Home audio fun, sweet. I'm working on setting up the extra rooms in my house with different 2 channel setups, but for now I just have the "Family Room" and the Living Room setup.

The "Family Room" is part theater, part sports room, and part listening. Its my favorite place.

    Sony Receiver STR-DA6400ES
Sony BDP CX7000 ES Blu Ray changer
    Sony DVP CX995V. DVD changer
    Dell Tower with 30 TB
    Klipsch Forte main channels
    Klipsch Academy Center
    Klipsch Heresy II rear channels
    Klipsch In Ceiling effect speakers
2 Adcom GFA555 amplifiers for subs
2 JL Audio 18W6 subwoofers built into the base of my couch

When its time for music it is

    DELL tower
    whatever portable HD player
    Helix DSP Pro MK2
    Proton D1200 amplifier
    Martin Logan Theos speakers
JL Audio E series 12" sub

    Re: What's your setup.

    Denon 990 receiver
Pair of Cerwin Vega LS12 3-way speakers I bought new in 01
usb flash drives plugged into the receiver

These speakers need to go and maybe a separate amp on whatever replaces them. They were perfect for what I wanted back when I bought them but now that I've turned into a snooty hifi guy they just aren't cutting the mustard. Audyssey in the Denon flattened them out fairly well and they still have midrange issues from poor design and a cheap but loud 5.25" mid driver. Pulled them out of climate controlled storage at dad's house and they seem to still have that Cerwin Vega sound after not hearing them for 13 years. He never used them so I said I was coming after them, lol.

I'm thinking a pair of Wharfedale Crystal 4.3's with a powered sub will do the job. Probably use my IDQ12v4 in a big sealed box (cuz it needs a big box for a .7 alignment) and throw plenty of power at it with a bridged dsp amp at 8 ohms. And do a dedicated dsp amp on the Wharfedale's eventually.

They might say "don't try this at home" but nothing about not trying it at your friend's house.

JBL Professional Series 2402H ultra-high frequency transducers (tweeters).
JBL Professional Series 2440 compression drivers (midrange horns).
JBL Professional Series 2309 horns (midrange horns).
JBL Professional Series 2390 acoustic lenses.
Eminence EM-54-15-H18 15” pro woofers (in custom 100Hz folded horns).

Kenwood KR-X1000 (THX) HT receiver – (purchased in early ‘90s to run the horns, which had been purchased a couple years earlier from a friend who had designed and built them for himself).

Dayton HF 15s in sealed 3ft^3, powered by a Crown XLS 1502.

    Re: What's your setup.

Sources: SOTA turntable -circa ~1986, some off brand tuner, and CD player, MythTV computer, iPad
    Pre amp: Audible Illusions
    Amp: VTL (2x 100w)
Speakers: Vandersteen 2c (2) and - Vandersteen sub.

So.. basically a pretty old school approach.

But... I recently got a 2 channel APL to add into the chain between preamp and amp(s)... so going a bit modern in a way.
