    Notloudenuf's Garage Project

I have decided to build a free standing garage/shop behind my house. Who knows what all it will wind up being but for now woodworking and possibly car storage is what it is now.

First the plans (drawn by me)

And some progress from yesterday. Footers...
First the batter boards and layout string.

The storage building that I have now in the background.

    And concrete in the hole

    The power conduit for wiring.

    Bricks are on order.
Framing has been purchased and I will have it delivered as needed.
Should have bricks and masonry work starting week of 4/9.

Major sweet ! [3 yr architectual drafting] in 70`s . The last time Matt and I went to a day event/seminar on concrete, they were adding fibers to the pour. They believed this would stop the cracks from occuring.

Looking good, but do have a question. Why did you not pour whole slab?

I'm matching the brick foundation of my house. So the brick are on the footer and then the slab is poured back to the bricks.

ah. All the slabs I've worked off of (framing) incorporated a "brick ledge" for that purpose

I may regret this way but its in the ground and everything is on order so I'm sticking with it.
