Are you not entertained?!?!
Nice work Mark!!
WOW! So you're running the Sony optical and the 505 analog to the Alpine as separate sources then? That is a wild setup. I'm diggin' it!
I figured I would make a list of what's left to do on the car to hopefully get it all done before Mobile Toys SQ Challenge Aug 5.
- Swap turn on lead to the Sony: so the Alpine radio can be shut off during judging the Sony radios noise floor is so quiet you can hear the fan on the back of the w505
- Cleanup the wires behind the radios and maybe build mounting brackets for the radios out of aluminum
- Remove the Alpine bluetooth module and mic
- Install the Sony mic
- Run RCAs and RUX-C800 remote wire under the carpet to the H800 and cleanup the wires at the H800
- Salvage yard run for a used dash bezel and maybe a center console top
- Find a place to mount the RUX-C800
- Custom dash bezel to surround the radios
What kind of stuff do I need to get to work with ABS?

DuraGlass or Dyna-Glass for anything that need to be reinforced. Regular lightweight body filler like Rage Gold or 3M lightweight for finishing touches and smooth out the roughness of the fiberglass reinforced filler. C/A glue and kick starter will let you glue things together and the stuff is really strong when bonding two pieces of plastic together. Then you'll need and assortment of sandpaper. I start with 60 grit and work my up to 220 with each layer of filler until it is to the desired shape and smoothness. Next comes paint. I usually use SEM paint as it usually has the best chance of matching the interior.
Managed to get a few things done on the car today the heat was unbelievable I ran the RUX cable into the center console, but need to find a better place for it.
After looking at the dash bezel it looks like very little will need to be cut to make it "fit" then some abs and body filler to make it look nice. This is my goal for tomorrow:
- Swap turn on lead to the Sony
- Remove the Alpine bluetooth module and mic
- Install the Sony mic
