well, you could start off with free memberships in the vendors forum for the first six months, and see how much that does, then go on from there....
like, erinh might want to offer his Klippel services for a fee, or Fric might want to be one of the resident box-builders, or whatever..
if we had a rotating RTA setup, or WT3 for forum use, that would be pretty cool, I'd like to put a few of my speakers through a WT3 printout.
that along with a windows tablet or something, maybe that could be an option later on.
what other things could make it into the "ship and use, ship back" category?
or, a 3D printing service, that would be nice...
and cutting board rings, love those..
a couple of test sweeps of everybody's cars using a known reference speaker, to create a data bank of transfer function, car specific curves.
I got a better idea! How about if we have a skill we just use it to help each other out!
The "vendor" label is just a way for Ant to identify who he is making money off of. I don't need to be known as a vendor in order to make someone some speaker rings or do any other bartering. But a "services rendered" sub forum might not be a bad idea.

I guess we could have some kind of section where people can get approval to post stuff (besides classifieds) without it being too spammy. Any thoughts?
How about a "services rendered" section. If you have a service or talent, post a thread about it along with other pertinent information such as limitations or pricing (or information that the admin deems necessary). The rest can be taken care of through PM. Then feedback on the service can be provided in that thread under the OP.

it seems more professional to me, to have the vendors format.
services rendered, is like the handyman section in the classifieds. I'd like to see a little bit of money spread around, eventually. I mean, 10 bucks for a year, you make that on one set of 4 treated rings, maybe. Or a box, or a sonotube.
Someone who works at home depot could source the sonotubes at employee discount, (unless someone owns a hardware business, that would be a good vendor, natch) and someone else might do the endcaps, someone else might cut the carpet or make special leather coverings, who knows?
myself, I saw where one of the foreign speaking guys that was selling through, said he'd like me to do his advertising copy, I can certainly copy edit, if anything. I'm not the best or even in the top 10% but I won spelling bees and did take some college english, haha..
and if a vendor section sounds too formal, maybe make it a child board (sub-forum) of the classified section.
I could see it having some impact on people frequenting here, especially since most of the people that are coming here are the usual suspects right now, when the word gets out that you can do the things here that you can do at DIYMA, the people will probably start showing up.
I wasn't one to go anywhere other than DIYMA, that's why I took getting shot in the face personally.
I'm gonna put in the vote for a vendor section, Fric's liking services rendered, I don't know what the difference is really...
I'd assume it more of a "vendor" = pushing products & making sales, "services rendered" = helping out forum members for possible exchange of $ or trades. Hell I'm not in any position to make suggestions, but I'd say as long as the goal is to promote good deals on resources or offer assistance & not a buy my products to line my pockets deal then imo title matters not.
I do like the ring of "services rendered", mainly because I'd considered the legality of opening a make you own porn store. Then it's not prostitution, but services rendered.... right?
I just feel that "services rendered" has more of community feel to it.

what about member services?
rendering is what I do to a piece of chicken fat before I make roux...
then again, member services can easily apply to that DiY porn too...
