I'm the same "TheBaronGroog" (as if anyone else would bother nicking my name) as found on DIYMA, TalkAudio, MSS, AudioPsychosis and Diyaudio.
I hail from the UK, just relocated from Birmingham, the 2nd city, to the North West-Wirral to be more precise. It's the peninsula between the River Mersey and the River Dee and a pretty lovely part of the world. I grew up around here (North Wales) but moved to Birmingham (or Brum as it is referred to) for my 1st job in car audio at a small independent B+M shop, worked in two of the UK's biggest audio chains and one other indie before ditching car audio retail to set up a new business refurbishing alloy wheels with my just retired father.
The new business opened in March and is going well, but eats all my spare time and makes ripping out the system from my Mini and refitting in my Nissan Navara (Frontier) a tough job-though one I'm looking forward to.
Source units have been Pioneer for the last decade, 880RS is the current one in the Mini, Genesis amps all the way( 2x DM, 2x ST60 and 1x 5ch), speakers Dynaudio-though have some Genesis P69s that I'm toying with doing a wide band approach with in the Navara (if I can find a suitable 2-3" driver to pair with to go in the stock dash location).
I've got a load of equipment I'm going to build in to an active home audio system, scored a £1500 12ch Sonance Sonamp 1230 amp on ebay last year which will be paired with some car audio processors (sonance handily has a 12v out) and a mix of speakers. Planning on a T-TQWT for the KEF B139 sub and a TQWT for the Focal midrange, ribbon and tweeter combo for the tops-though may change if the Focal work better in the truck than the Dyn MW162.
Have a wonderful, understanding, fiancee and an amazing 2 year old daughter.
