Re: The Essentials of Sound Quality: IMHO

    Question about beaming and tweeters.

My tweeters have a nominal diameter of 37mm (1.5") and a corresponding beaming frequency of ~4.7kHz. I am presuming then that frequencies above 4.7kHz may be subject to the effects of beaming. If this is the correct understanding, what can I do with my tweeter install to limit/control beaming effects? I apologize if I missed any of that discussion here. I looked but did not ascertain anything applicable.

a 1.5" speaker would be more like 9100hz, give or take.

control it? depends on your goal. the most obvious answer to me would be tweeter angle.

Can't control beaming. It's just physics dictated by the diameter.

Just install your tweeter and tune

Robert - I used the half-wavelength formula instead of the full-wavelength formula.

Thanks, Robert and Kelvin, for the advice. Learning has to start somewhere, right?

I think Erin uses that method too come to think of it.

I can't find a -10db test tone on the link above, is there something I am missing?
