I could have told you nothing was going to happen. Obama is NOT a leader, he is a dictator. The only time he got anything done was his first two years, when he had overwhelming numbers in the house and one shy of a filibuster proof senate. Even then, they had a hell of a time passing Obamacare. They had to bribe a number of DEMOCRATIC senators just to get it to pass.

I was glad to see our dictator talked with the one from Iran, reminded me of The Perfect Storm scene where his enemy hit the water first and saved the guy who got pulled overboard.

Treasury Department said failure to raise the nation's borrowing limit, expected to hit its $16.7 trillion cap in mid-October, could precipitate an economic nosedive worse than the recent Great Recession. A default could cause the nation's credit markets to freeze, the value of the dollar to plummet and U.S. interest rates to skyrocket, according to a Treasury report.

Obama cataloged a litany of troubles that could be caused by the failure to raise the debt ceiling, from delayed Social Security and disability checks to worldwide economic repercussions.

"If we screw up, everybody gets screwed up," he said.

The gub will NOT default ... default is where you do not pay your DEBTS and interest on the debt. Default in NOT when you do not fund everything the gub wants to do, every program they create. If Obama does either of these two things he has threatened .. not prioritizing payouts and paying debts first OR raising the debt level on his own, these are impeachable offenses. Sadly he will most likely do one or both if the republicans don't blink .. and nothing will happen.

Just for clarification - SS is something people payed into the whole life and so is not a "freebie" program.
