    Re: Politics

"Washington has been in gridlock, gridlock, gridlock" and "we're sick of it."

President Barack Obama is getting some fresh help in adding to his legacy in a different way – through government regulation.
    Making one's presence known

It may not be as dramatic as passing sweeping legislation but the reach of the federal regulatory agencies is vast. A few examples:

Last week the Food and Drug Administration urged drug companies and farmers to use a standard of “judicious use” when giving antibiotics to cattle and other animals that will wind up as food on Americans’ dining room tables.
The Fish and Wildlife Service must decide whether to issue permits for energy projects that would affect endangered species such as the desert tortoise in the Mohave Desert. Here the Obama administration’s push for renewable energy may be on a collision course with species protection, said Ya-Wei “Jake” Li, the director of Endangered Species Conservation at the advocacy group Defenders of Wildlife. “Renewable energy projects and endangered species protection can coexist, but only if the administration begins placing higher priority on the needs of those species,” said Li.
The United States is poised to become a huge exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), partly due to the shale gas boom in states such as Pennsylvania. But LNG export requires approval of regulators at the Department of Energy and the building of LNG export facilities needs approval from other federal regulators.

Probably nowhere are the stakes higher than at the Environmental Protection Agency.

Fact Check: Did Obama get it right?

    O'bama : We are fucked !

    THE FACTS: He's right

A look at some of the facts and political circumstances behind his claims, along with a glance at the Republican response to his speech:

OBAMA: "Because of this [health care] law, no American can ever again be dropped or denied coverage for a preexisting condition like asthma, back pain or cancer. No woman can ever be charged more just because she's a woman. And we did all this while adding years to Medicare's finances, keeping Medicare premiums flat, and lowering prescription costs for millions of seniors."

THE FACTS: He's right that insurers can no longer turn people down because of medical problems, and they can't charge higher premiums to women because of their sex. The law also lowered costs for seniors with high prescription drug bills. But Medicare's monthly premium for outpatient care has gone up in recent years.

Although the basic premium remained the same this year at $104.90, it increased by $5 a month in 2013, up from $99.90 in 2012. Obama's health care law also raised Medicare premiums for upper-income beneficiaries, and both the president and Republicans have proposed to expand that.

Finally, the degree to which the health care law improved Medicare finances is hotly debated. On paper, the program's giant trust fund for inpatient care gained more than a decade of solvency because of cuts to service providers required under the health law. But in practice those savings cannot simultaneously be used to expand coverage for the uninsured and shore up Medicare.

The poor Congress is about to see a huge turnover. Either they get voted out because they go against the will of the people, or they get ousted because the sponsors start backing another candidate.
    I wish !

    Re: Politics

Romney has a big lead among Iowa Republicans over a list of candidates that includes former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Ryan. Romney has also led early polls in New Hampshire, which follows Iowa as the second contest in the GOP presidential primary process.
Mitt says he had his run already !

Let someone else take a turn.
