    Re: Z's Garden

Love growing vegetables. Right now I need to pick my sugar snap peas. Two types of those, one which hasn't produced any pods yet but the plants are 6 feet high growing off the fence. Green beans in a few weeks. Squash and Zucchini Coming. Also Parsley, Basil. Carrots. Cukes. Spinach will be late. Every year I add more raised beds.
Right now I have about 50 ft x 4 ft, about a foot high. I could use a better watering setup than me, a sprayer hose and occasional rainfail. Looking into some soaker hoses and sprinkles.

you suck, making it look so easy.....

speaking of hot stuff, we've had a jalapeno bush for over 3 years that just keeps producing and producing. Its easy to maintain.

    Tomato's are more finicky.

I wish I lived in a place that had an all year long growing season. Every year its a complete redo of the garden.

We can't run year round either. Usually 2 plantings. We get frost/freezes from October thru March.

It's about garden time again. We're doing mustard greens, radishes, green onions, carrots, and a few other things.
They might say "don't try this at home" but nothing about not trying it at your friend's house.

    Re: Z's Garden

Since you guys have your gardening game up, a few questions-

We're adding some beds to the yard at the new place very soon. These will be for perennials, shrubs, etc. I assume I have to cut out the grass area and then turn the soild and add some top soil, nutrients, etc in there but not entirely sure how to go about it. Any tips for starting a planting bed from a section of currently grassy yard?

My biggest issue with beds is weeds. I'd say double up on weed barrier
Also, consider your edging, it's easiest before bringing in more soil.
