    Wavelengths by frequency

I made up this chart to show the wavelength of some common audio frequencies. This is based on the speed of sound at seal level @ 72ºF. Here is a link to the calculator http://www.mcsquared.com/wavelength.htm

    Hz Inches Feet
    10 1356 113
    20 680 56.5
    30 452 37.66
    40 339 28.25
    50 271.2 22.6
    60 226 18.83
    70 193.7 16.14
    80 169.5 14.125
    90 150.66 12.55
    100 135.6 11.3
    125 108.48 9.04
    150 90.4 7.53
    200 67.8 5.65
    250 54.24 4.52
    300 45.2 3.76
    500 27.12 2.26
    1000 13.56 1.13
    2500 5.42 .452
    5000 2.71 .226
    7000 1.93 .161
    8000 1.69 .141
    10k 1.356 .113
    10.5k .904 .075
    20k .678 .056
    30k .452 .037

Excellent, I can use the other converter to change them to METRIC, mwahahahahaha

This one actually shows metric too, but I didn't feel like typing all that nonsense.

BTW...why do the English measure short distances in metric, but travelling distance in miles?

    Re: Wavelengths by frequency

Very simple, we English have huge schlongs, so measure anything long in Imperial as there's less units per length, the French have very, very, small schlongs so measure everything in Metric, mainly mm and cm, so it has just become normal for us to quote large distances in Imperial and very small ones in Metric-helps us remember another reason as to why we're superior to the French:englishmark:

    Re: Wavelengths by frequency

The actual reason is the EU (pronounced Ewwwwwwwwwwww) which we foolishly joined in 1973.

Run in Brussels by a bunch of small minded bureaucrats the EU has forced many ridiculous laws onto the citizens of this fair land, one of which being the adoption of the Garlic Eating Surrender Monkeys* Metric system.

In schools you are taught the metric system, some reference is made to the old Imperial system (or was when I was in school) but everything is grammes and kilogrammes, mm, cm, metres and kilometres, ml and litres, Nm and so on.

The only produce you can still buy in ounces/pounds tend to have been brought into the country hidden up someones arse or grown by those industrious little Vietnamese illegal immigrants. If your kid is great at fractions chances are he's buying or selling!

The problem arises that this only came to exist in the 70s, so while the kids learnt about Metric in school their parents still used the Imperial system, so a mix of old school and new battle against each other.

For driving MPH makes much more sense than KPH, most of the UK's A-roads have a 60mph limit, so it's very easy to work out that if you're doing 60mph and have 45miles to go it will take you 45minutes and there's no way the British will change that. We're already close to telling Europe to: "Va te faire enculer chez les Grecs ", "Vaffanculo", "Lutsch mein' Schwanz" and Brussels forcing us to change to KPH would certainly see us exit Europe if our pansy-assed gvt will ever give us a referendum.

Hooking the tape measure to your bung-hole, to measure your bratwurst, does not count

No, and it makes a shitty job of measuring box dimensions thereafter.
