Here is my last car build. This car has had this system since 2004 and is pretty old school like me.
standard Din JVC head unit that was a DV player and had an optical output. The front stage were the best of the group of speakers I tested for Zapco when they were launching components. They are ESB drivers.
The tweeters are mounted to the A pillars and the trim panel just surrounds it. The acrylic rod illuminates just to match the effect of the kick pane grille but the tweeter grilles were left on.
The kick panels are built the same way. The panel is just trim and the speaker itself is mounted to a 1/4" steel plate and vented into the sill.
The sub is an Illusion Audio ND15 mounted free air. Its mounted on an steel baffle that is welded, bolted and glassed where needed to ensure its sealed off between the cain and trunk area. The trunk is bare because the RS version doesn't come with trunk interior to reduce weight. There were 500 built like this for WRC homologation, so I went with that theme.
The amplifiers are A Zapco Z250C4 that was balanced and re-biased for the front stage and a 500.1 for the sub. They are built into 4G63 valve covers with AEM oil caps and cam gears for effect. Processing is done with a Zapco DSP-6. They are mounted on an Aluminum rack that uses the rear brace mounts the RS comes with and tapped plates welded to the floor.
Behind that is a 2qt Accusump setup.
the battery is relocated to the trunk and in a custom aluminum box. The fuse/distribution sits above it. In the corner of the sub baffle is a secondary fuse panel which has constant power for accessories like the Accusump, meth, motorization, etc. There is also one on the passenger side that has switched power.
Here's a shot of the engine bay if anyone is into the performance side of things...
