Part of the discussion today was how much to cut the heads to see what kind of power gains could be met. I'll have to think on that for a bit.

Today I did some more work with the cylinder heads. They are just about ready for assembly, but before that I checked the combustion chamber sizes. During the porting, I opened the chamber up ever so slightly. It looks like I gained about 1.5 cc. Tomorrow I have to decide how much I want to mill the heads. After milling is done the heads will be cleaned twice and then assembled.

If I was doing this I would have been done by now and had it back in the car...

...and then it wouldn't start because I fucked it up.

Just kidding. I wouldn't have had it done by now and I still would have been fucking it up. Looking good.

Re: A Different Sort of Build Thread

Today started off awesome. Decided to mill the heads just enough to clean them up and make sure they were straight. I ended up taking .020" off both heads. I'm good with that my compression ratio should be around 11.7:1.

After the heads were milled, I lapped the valves in and then cleaned the heads. Once all that was done it was time to assemble the heads.

This is where my afternoon went to hell in a hand basket. The freaking valve seals are too small. So I called the vendor that I purchased the seals and the guides from and explained what was going on and luckily they have the size I need in stock. I'll pick them up Monday and hopefully finish assembling the heads and get even closer to starting this engine up.
