    Comicon 2013 montreal

I guess this would qualify as a home project.

My son wanted to go as RED HOOD... one of Batman's Robins, gone rogue.

The mask was built using a program that prints out shapes on card stock, then you need to cut out the patterns and assemble them into the specific 3D shape you are trying to build (EG: helmets, armors and such)

I used the ol' bondo milkshake and cut down on f-glassing time.

When he gets back from commicon, I'll post the progression of the mask's construction.

I made the chest armor out of a black t-shirt and foam cutouts, using wally world gym mats.

Painted them black then beveled the edges on the belt sander.

The larger armor plates had to be curved using a heat gun to soften the foam and I formed a cup shape by holding it down over my bent knee, while it cooled down.
The foam was attached using a ton of hotmelt and plenty of colorful cursing.

The mask's eyes are lenses from a pair of "gas station sunlasses" , fastened from the inside, again using pain, cursing and hotmelt.

Here are a couple more build pics.

First layers of mud. The inside was already treated to a bondo milkshake job, prior.

Junior got a ton of compliments on his costume.
Dan Logan, who plays Boba Fett in Star wars(as a kid), gave him a thumbs up.

Here is the kid behing the mask...notice how a BNIB, never fired(until very recently), Soviet SKS puts a grin on a young man's face.

I don't have a pic, but he also fired another club member's "1911" and walked away from the stall with a "tent" in his pants
