    New car, Quick question.

Well I did it. I'm the proud owner of a 2016 Genesis coupe 3.8 with 2100 miles on it.

The "I'm not going to think about putting a system in this" lasted about three days.

It has the no nav, no sub, "six speaker" system with the color display.

Does anyone know if the output of the head unit is flat through the throw of the volume control with the tone controls flat?

Holy Crap! A Big Daddy sighting!

The last person I know of to have a Genesis was Dennis. Good luck with it.

Crutchfield says you can throw a double din in there no problem. But there are ways to test the output of the factory headunit with rta. Can't remember how but someone on here knows.
They might say "don't try this at home" but nothing about not trying it at your friend's house.

Personally I would just throw a double din in there and get it over with. Most of the Pioneers have network mode now or if you want to go with a processor the Dayton unit seems to be treating people well if on a budget.

the headunit and "screen" are separate, dunno if the headunit drives the screen that has HVAC info on it or not. have not looked too hard but I suspect it may, or will suffer some pretty shitty errors without it.

Nicole's 2011 GC had everything that ran through the HU. The HU also had a digital out that went to the factory amp, but her car had the factory sub too. While she was pleased with the factory sound system, she wasn't pleased with the lack of bass, despite having a subwoofer, so I put one in there for her. The only thing I remember about her car is that it had a factory loudness curve at low volume that disappeared at high volume.

I did find it funny that her car had the Infinity Premium sound system in it and everything was stamped Harmon or JBL... As in, nothing was branded Infinity.
2019 WRX Limited - Stock HK for now while waiting on parts to be developed...

The digital out heads to the Harman amp and the volume is then controlled via the vehicle bus. It is entirely possible that the EQ curve was built into the amplifier.
