    Hurricane Florence Pictures

First let me say that people had/have it WAYYY worse through this storm than I did. No one in my family was hurt and we didn't suffer any damage to our homes or cars. Luckily the wind damage was minimal since Florence down graded to a CAT 1 by the time she made landfall. The eye made landfall over Wilmington, which you can see near the bottom. We were without power for 5 days. The effects from flooding are still being felt in my town and surrounding areas. Here is where I live in eastern NC. Just outside of Kinston in Lenoir County.

Around 11am on Friday. It has been raining since 5 or 6pm Thursday night at this point. Things aren't looking too bad. This is typical water level of a few rainy days.

You'll see this background a lot. It's out my front door.

2:30pm Friday. The water is getting higher but not terrible

6:11pm on Friday. The water is starting to get higher. The next few pictures are 20 minutes apart.

6:31pm um, this doesn't look good.

6:50pm. Water please stop doing this.

7:15pm. This is the worst of the rainfall through the storm. Water is now over topping my driveway.

7:15pm still rising. Almost the whole yard is flooded.

7 :15pm water still rising. My neighbors yard is underwater. The highest I saw the water was touching the metal rim on my truck.

7:22pm almost completely inundated at this point. The water got another 4" or so higher than this but it was too dark to take any more pictures.

Here is a neighboring subdivison. The road is under water here. This is on Saturday.

    Damage in that neighborhood.

    Flooded road.

Just some limbs and leaves down in my back yard. That's all the damage we had.

Water is still high in my backyard since it doesn't drain very well.

Our generator that ran for 4 days. This thing was great! It ran 21 hours on a tank of gas and powered a fridge, window A/C, tv, 2 fans, satellite box, lamp, and various phone chargers.

Window unit A/C also powered by generator. This kept us comfortable in our main living space. We broke out the air mattress to be able to sleep near the A/C.

had to rig up the installation.

It was an ordeal overall but we came out on top. I'd prefer not to have another hurricane anytime soon.

Thanks for sharing Kendall. Do you have a basement or crawl space and if so any water intrusion?

We have a crawl space. We only got a little water under there that came through the access door. After the storm I put a fan blowing under there for a few days to dry it out.

Thanks for the pics, I'm glad you had almost no damage to your property and even happier you both are safe.
