PARIS — Forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad carried out a "massive and coordinated" chemical attack on Aug. 21, according to a declassified French intelligence report released Monday, a French government source told Reuters.

The nine-page document — issued by external and military intelligence services and to be presented to lawmakers later Monday — lays out five points that suggest Assad was behind the attacks. "This poses a major threat to national and global security," the source said.

The intelligence includes satellite imagery showing the attacks coming from government-controlled areas to the east and west of Damascus and targeting rebel-held zones. The source said Assad's forces had since bombed the areas to wipe out evidence.

Nobody can stand against us in a conventional war. Our enemies know this and will use asymmetric tactics. They will attack where we are weak. And we have plenty of weaknesses.

The British were the same way in 1700's, NO army could stand toe to toe with the redcoat regulars - and they knew it. We fought from behind rocks and trees, they considered it cowardly. Meanwhile, they would march in formation in full uniform thru the deep south because it was "politically correct." They lost more men to heat exhaustion than combat.

I just want to know what we think we will gain ... we either back Assad (Russia) or we back the rebels (Iran). There was a pro-western rebel group but Obama the muslim let them get slaughtered. Now that muslims are fighting, he wants to back then. How transparent does Obama have to be for people to get this ? We have a political system in which both parties want the same thing and media refuses to do it's job.
