    Trashy, indeed.

Says wire mesh, but it is actually very fine expanded metal.

Just went to Lowes and noticed they sell the wire mesh trash cans as well. One black, one silver.

IIRC, some cans are metal mesh and others are aluminum. I'm not sure if aluminum could be molded like that without breaking.

I've had better luck getting aluminum to stretch to shape than I have with steel. But the aluminum isn't as strong of a grill. If you look at the pressed grilles in my last 2 builds of my hatch, that was aluminim hexagon mesh.

What size (thickness/hex size etc) you like for tweet/mid grills? I'd like to get some of that stuff on hand.

For mids/tweets, I usually grab some old 6" speaker grilles and use that. We have a bunch at work.
I got aluminum hex mesh from Mcmaster-Carr. I think it was 1/4" hexagons. But it's been a while.
Works great if you don't need it to support weight.

I got a couple of 22ga steel sheets for $28/ea from here https://www.zoro.com/value-brand-she...ex/i/G1847921/

    Here's the 20ga aluminum version for $38 https://www.zoro.com/value-brand-she...i/G3376861/?q=

I used the flats from Lowes (steel) for my amp rack, I needed strength as I usually throw stuff on top (jack, cooler, spare axles, etc).. I'm looking at redoing my 8s in the kick, so I'm probably going to go with steel for strength, but if you give aluminum enough creases it might add strength.. But that price you posted is a killer deal, beats the 30 buxs @ Lowes..
