I've done what I can with the inbuilt 13 band EQ and it's helped a lot but I'm thinking a Audiocontrol DQS/DQSX is in my future.

The HU is a Pioneer FH-P5000MP from 2005, so I don't know how sophisticated her DSP is in that regard. The manual doesn't tell me a damn thing aside from how to adjust the settings. I'll try just inputting the difference and report back.

I would balance it out before you set the ta... Listen to pink noise, and balance it out so the levels seem to be equal as loud from both sides.. then if you ta ( set the distance from each speaker to your position ) you should be pretty close..

You talking using the bal and fad function? Sorry for being a newb but this is my first real experience with T/A.

Balance/Fade are just poor mans adjustment for level matching.

However you do it, just make sure all your speakers are playing at the same volume relevant to the listeners position.

since very few amps have independent L/R level adjustment then it works to use the balance if you don't' have DSP that does it.

Mine is actually one click left in a LHD car... take that inverse square law!

Then again, I like my center image in front of me not int he middle of the car... my car, I'm driving it.... same reason I dont' sit right in front of one speaker(s) when mixing an album or band.

An image in the middle of the dash is like me buying tickets to my own concert and sitting off to the side.

Chad, having your image right in front of you doesn't squash your stage on the left side? Is your stage just as wide to the left as it is to the right?

yup

But as opposed to going for a pinpoint image.. historically, I go for "fucking huge" first. Easier to paint on a bigger canvas.

And I follow that trait with all audio, not just car audio.
