How about an over lay of filters with the same slopes but the only difference being bessel, butterworth, L/R. I'd like to see the different shelfs compared in this way.

In most processors latency is the same across all output channels though.

Meaning, it doesn't matter anyway when you measure distance/arrival.

MOST.... older units used multiple engines all split up... that caused some headaches.

we also have people that say... "aww, I don't need DSP on my sub".... which is fine and dandy, but......

I don't have DSP on my sub...
    Yet.

But it's ok cause my amp runs off a mini flux capacitor that sends my sub signal into the future.

This is interesting on another level. Home audio guys add DSPs starting from the sub.

I couldn't do without sub DSP in the car.

I use an old school outboard electronic crossover to handle my midrange/tweeter split, what kind of latency would I be dealing with and would I be able to compensate by delaying my midbass and subs to suit?

Old Tandy Aerospace/Radio Shack/Optimus 3 way electronic crossover. I didn't figure it would be a big delay like an MS8 or anything, just curious.

If you set a LPF @ 80hz, then 80hz is just where it hits the actual slope selected. But the particular "knee off" you speak of will actually start a few hz higher than 80.

And the crossover values are the electrical values... The acoustic values can be way off, due to bafflestep, mounting, driver response, enclosure... you name it..
