Apparently, no one is using alarm systems...maybe razor blades behind the head unit like in the old school daze!!!

I can't remember that last time I installed an alarm. Nowadays, cars have fairly decent protection from the factory...and as you get older, you can afford better insurance

I'm using a Viper 3305v with a battery back up, glass breakage sensor, and a second siren (pain generator) mounted under the dash. Full disclosure, I only installed it for the points in competition.
I've got a budget of $1,000. That should be more than enough.

    Re: Security

Thankfully the draw of car stereo theft kinda shrunk with the downfall of the popularity of the hobby. Not saying there aren't still areas where your instal isn't safe, it just isn't the nationwide "every neighborhood" problem it was in the late 80s early 90's when the hobby was at its peak. Also makes me thankful for the proper sound deadening measures we use today......I can rock hard with the windows closed, and from the outside it sounds like a cranked factory setup.....lol. As far as protection, my factory alarm and an insurance rider hopefully have my back........

Another thing that always bothered me about alarms are the fact that they never stopped anything from being stolen......as a matter of a fact back when stereo thievery was a serious pursuit, alarms actually drew attention to cars worthy of being broken in to......kinda like branded decals, tint, and aftermarket wheels.
