I haven't measured just yet.... I assume a 12" would fit just fine.... a 15".... not so sure....

A spare tire well enclosure would most likely require quite a bit of fabrication time and cost, whereas an IB setup could be easily knocked out in an afternoon and achieve similar results, and require less wattage too.

Unfortunately, that's what I ran into trying to go IB. Bought some excellent 15" subwoofers, only to find out the opening is 13.5" tall, and just created all sorts of headaches trying to mount them. Whoops...
    Are you not entertained?!?!

To Daniels point... say you measure and determine a 15" (for example) will fit, don't just run out and buy a 15" IB rated sub without also considering the angle of the baffle you'll mount it to. It may fit diameter-wise, but the basket/magnet might hit due to the angle of the baffle.

Exactly ^^^ The subs are actually 16" diameter from the edge of the basket, and just wouldn't fit vertically in the Challenger. Had to do some pretty severe angles to get them to fit, which took up more space into the trunk, at which point it would have made better sense to just go sealed. But going sealed requires more power than I have on hand, so ended up swapping to a pair of 12" subwoofers instead.
    Are you not entertained?!?!

TheDavel: I see you voted for a spare tire install.... would like to have your thoughts on this subject...

Re: Needed: Your thoughts on a sedan enclosure.....

I'm thinking of a 3 across, 12" type of scenario, IB with close to the output of 15" pairs that most run, something like JL's dual 6 ohm coils to get 4 ohms mono off of three subs.

2 twelves could easily be enough for me, but there seems to be some hesitation regarding output, maybe the ability to impress one's self with an IB install might depend on that extra 12" of displacement added?

And, dependent on the vehicle, a triple just seems right sometimes, breaks up the binary or something like that, aesthetic.

2 15" IB is my vote as well. The bass detail and extreme low frequency extension is the reason why.

do not go smaller than 15" for IB. if SQ is your #1 priority, go IB.
